What's my Moon sign?

Free. You'll need your birth date (and birth time if you have it).

Birthday
Birthplace (optional)

Your Moon sign is the sign the Moon was in when you were born. If your Sun sign is who you're becoming, your Moon sign is who you are when nobody's watching: how you feel things, what you need to feel safe, and how you react when you're hurt or stressed.

The Moon changes signs every two to three days, so two people born the same week can have very different Moon signs. Your birth date is usually enough; your birth time makes it exact if the Moon changed signs that day.

Questions people ask

How is my Moon sign calculated?

+

We calculate where the Moon was in the sky at your birth date, time and place, using astronomical positions. Because the Moon moves about 13° a day, your birth time matters if the Moon changed signs on your birthday.

What's the difference between a Sun sign and a Moon sign?

+

Your Sun sign describes your identity and direction. Your Moon sign describes your emotional world: your instinctive reactions, your needs and what comforts you.

Can my Moon sign be the same as my Sun sign?

+

Yes. If you were born close to a New Moon, the Sun and Moon were in the same sign, which tends to make your feelings and identity line up closely.
